Timber frame and engineered timber are rapidly becoming one of the most popular and sustainable ways to build and have many clear benefits to self builders, developers and home owners. Timber is a major part of the offsite construction methodology and achieves greater consistency and quality of design. Our timber components are created in a factory-controlled environment, giving vastly improved levels of project efficiency with low levels of construction waste alongside faster, safer onsite working practices.

Timber delivers a high-performance building solution that directly contributes to achieving high Code for Sustainable Homes Levels and Passivhaus standards when required. Using timber technology is a huge motivation in achieving Excellent/Outstanding BREEAM ratings and demonstrates a high commitment to environmental best practice and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Tech-Vantage T

Tech-VantageTM T is composed of two 90mm studs with a 90mm separation, fully filled with glass mineral wool insulation.

This achieves even greater airtightness levels, better U-Values and improved thermal bridging.

Tech-VantageTM T is a development of the Twin Frame Panel System which for a standard 270mm deep panel delivers:

  • Twin panel solution comprising 2 x 90mm panels
  • U-values from as low as 0.09 to 0.15 W/m2K
  • Helps achieve virtually zero heating requirements


 

Tech-Vantage S

Tech-VantageTM S is a 140mm panel with glass mineral wool insulation tightly packed between a sheathing board on the inside and a wood fibre board (size depends on chosen U-Value).

There is also a 25mm service batten on the inside nailed to the OSB which your plasterboard (not provided by Frame TechnologiesTM) is screwed to so your services can flow freely.  

Tech-VantageTM S is based on a single panel system with U-Values ranging from:

  • Single frame 140mm panel solution
  • U-values from 0.14 to 0.24 W/m2K


 

Tech-Vantage E

Tech-VantageTM E is a 140mm panel containing Rigid Poly Urethane Insulation and is available in a variety of depths to meet specific U-Value requirements.

The Panel has a 9mm OSB outer sheathing and either a Vapour Control Layer or a 20mm or 25mm layer of extra insulation on the inside of the panel with taped joints - to meet varying U-Value objectives.

Plasterboard can be screwed through the extra insulation or Vapour Control Layer. There is service zone gap between the insulation layers. The extra insulation is on a supply only basis.

  • Traditional timber frame system with factory-fitted rigid polyurethane insulation
  • Single frame 140mm panel solution
  • U-Values from 0.16 to 0.23 W/m2K

 

Open Panel Solutions

'Open Panel Solution' is a 140mm panel designed for glass wool insulation, which is not factory fitted and available from us, on a supply only basis. The Open Panel has 9mm OSB factory fitted externally and remains open internally. Once the insulation has been fitted the services can flow through before a vapour barrier and plasterboard can be screwed directly to the timber studs. 

 

Glulam

Glulam is incredibly strong structural timber products and provide a natural alternative to steel and concrete. Created by gluing together thin laminates of timber to produce a large strong solid beam, glulam can be used as vertical or horizontal beams, or can be produced in attractive curves.  Glulam is suitable for all types of building projects especially in open plan design.

Glulam is available in a wide range of standard sizes but can be made to measure to almost any requirement. Glulam arches span large distances and without intermediate columns, allowing more design flexibility than with traditional timber construction which is increasingly appealing to architects.  We design and manufacture in-house and use the latest design software and processing machinery.


 

Hybrid Solutions

A hybrid solution is made up of two or more timber systems combined to create the ultimate structure to meet your specific needs in terms of both budget and performance. Frame TechnologiesTM adopt a Fabric First approach and with thermal efficiency being crucial with rising heating costs, timber on timber reduces cold bridging. Through offsite manufacturing techniques, Frame TechnologiesTM delivers as per the specification detailed within design brief, which vastly reduces the potential for a gap between predicted and as built performance.

 

Metal Web Joists

Frame TechnologiesTM recommend and use metal web joists which when combined with lightweight timber offer additional strength. This is a lightweight alternative to steel or concrete, eliminates the need for load bearing intermediate walls. Metal web joists allows spans of far greater distances than with alternative timber products. This gives architects and designers unequalled design freedom across a wide range of floor and roof applications in domestic, industrial and commercial applications.
